Lauded by fellow artists from early on in his career, Milton Avery to this day remains revered for his poetical approach to color and facility for navigating between figuration and abstraction. The exhibition Fifty Paintings / Fifty Years commemorated both the full expanse of the artist’s prolific career, as well Yares Art’s half-century relationship with Avery’s Estate.

The accompanying catalogue contains over 200 plates, an essay by longtime curator Eliza E. Rathbone, and illuminating ephemera from and a detailed chronology of the artist’s life.
